Why haven't you heard of us?  Because a majority of our sales are private label, contract packaging and OEM sales.  This means that we manufacture for companies whose products you use every day.  We are a "behind the scenes" manufacturer.  Here is a brief history of Our Company.

Originally founded in 1947, Atlas Putty Products Company was acquired by its current President, Jack L. Payton, in 1978.  At that time, the Company only manufactured three products (glazing compound, plumber's putty, and caulking compound) for sale in the consumer and industrial markets in Chicago.

In 1991, the acquisition of Perm-E-Lastic tripled the business of Atlas Putty and provided increased opportunities with spackling products, private label contracts and increased distribution.  This prompted the move from our 6,800 square foot facility in Chicago to a new 23,000 square foot building in Tinley Park, IL with increased capacity and capital improvements.  However, the continued growth of the Company required yet another move in 2001 to a new 48,000 square foot facility in Tinley Park.  This plant is equipped with state of the art mixing and production facilities.

Today, the Company, still headed by Jack, also includes Vice Presidents David Payton and Matthew Payton along with Chief Financial Officer Jacqueline Bueschel.  Atlas Putty Products Company manufactures glazing compound, spackle, lightweight spackle, putties, wood fillers, caulks, industrial soaps, and special mastics.  Additionally, Atlas Putty provides contract packaging and toll manufacturing for a variety of construction, industrial, and consumer products.  Approximately 75% of our revenues are generated from private label and contract packaging, which is significant because prior to 1991, 100% of the revenues were generated by sales of Atlas Putty's branded goods.  The client list consists of wholesale hardware distributors, paint and sundries manufacturers, specialty hobby distributors, and OEM manufacturers.  Atlas Putty services over 200 accounts on an annual basis.

25 Years Experience.  You would be surprised at what we do!  We can manufacture using your formula or ours.  We can assist with product formulation, development, testing, and packaging.  We specialize in turn key manufacturing of viscous products (pastes), liquids, or powders for wholesale, industrial, and private label customers.

In 2003, Atlas Putty was proud to continue our commitment to quality by upgrading our ISO registration to the new ISO 9001: 2000 standards.
